Professionals
Professional Development is one of the major focuses of
CASTP. Our goal is to facilitate and assist the career development for working
professionals and university students by offering a variety of initiatives (listed
below). Moreover, CASTP, through its own events and its connections with other
organizations, provides additional venues and opportunities for people to
network, socialize, learn, and share with others, which is a critical for
professional career development.
In particular, CASTP has the following few focused
initiatives
1. Mentoring programs. This program
provides a pool of mentors who are working in academic, industry, and
government institutions. CASTP organizes bridging meetings where mentees can identify
and match with mentors, then CASTP follows up the progress of the
mentor-mentee relationship and provides additional assistance if needed.
a. Bi-annual mentor-mentee face to face
gathering event
Each year CASTP organizes two face-to-face social events where mentors
and mentees can meet in persons, network with other people, share and learn
successful mentoring stories
b. Online mentoring
To make the program effective and convenient, CASTP initiates the online
mentoring program, through which mentees can submit questions and requests
anytime. Some of the common questions will be accumulated and addressed online
in Q&A format.
c. Resume assistance
CASTP identifies a pool of experienced working professionals to help
students and junior professionals to work on their resume development. This may
include helps in language, formatting, structure, and messaging of the resume;
and may also include helps on improving interview skills (e.g. through mock
interviews) and other aspects of job applications (e.g. offer negotiation).
