This interpretation of a Lily Pond appears to be ink and water color. It is a very unique scene with colorful buildings in the background and misty trees in the distance. The traditional bridge is a beautiful focal point. The lily pads in the foreground are beautifully done in perfect scale to the rest of the painting, and the muted colors give it an ethereal quality. Amy has truly done justice to the subject, in the tradition of artists over the centuries. This lovely painting gives the viewer an inner peace and contentment.

This very fine portrait of the sturdy and patient Ox is featured prominently on the left side of the page, symbolizing strength, wealth, perseverance, diligence and prosperity. The pastoral background is far in the distance, allowing the focus to be on this strong but calm Ox. The ink and wash strokes are beautifully done with little hesitation, which gives the viewer the feeling of safety and welcoming, even though he is a powerful animal. Excellent interpretation for this Year of the Ox.

Description: At first, I hesitated. Drawing and coloring it tested my patience skills. But towards the end, it got easier and easier. I could see it clearly, with no large white spots, and that alone convinced me to finish it. I also love the eyes. I think it makes the whole piece seem cuter. That’s why I named it Golden Ruby.
